Journalist Sedat Yılmaz, who was detained in Diyarbakır on April 28 as part of an Ankara-based investigation, was reportedly attacked by police officers upon being transported to Ankara while handcuffed for 15 hours.
Yılmaz suffered hearing loss and pain in his ear due to the blows to his head.
After a 24-hour restriction on lawyer meetings was imposed on the case, Yılmaz and fellow journalist Dicle Müftüoğlu met with their lawyers, who reported that Yılmaz and Müftüoğlu were brought to Ankara by bus, handcuffed for 15 hours and left without food for 24 hours.
According to the news agency MA, Yılmaz, who met with his lawyer, explained that after he was handed over to the police in Ankara, he was kicked in the head by one of the police officers in the vehicle, causing hearing loss and severe pain in his ear.
Yılmaz stated that he was subjected to espionage pressure under the pretext of "chatting." The lawyers demanded that Yılmaz be taken to the hospital for a medical report on his injuries. (RT/VK)
