Journalist Talu Faces Prosecution

The General Staff has filed a criminal complaint against journalist Umur Talu of the Sabah newspaper for undermining relations between ranks and destroying trust in the superiors. Talu had written on demands of common soldiers.

The Istanbul Chamber of Doctors has decided to give its Peace, Democracy and Human Rights Prize to the widow of Hrant Dink for her speech at her husbands funeral. Rakel Dink had emphasised peace and brotherhood.

Bomb in Ankara Kills Six

Two Journalists Kiiled in Attacks in Iraq

Three days after the Tigris (Dicle) radio station in Bagdad was attacked twice in one day, an embedded Russian journalist, Dimitri Tchebotayev, was killed in an attack on the US army in Diyala. At the radio station one security guard died.

Agos and Akcam to Pay Compensation

An Ankara civil court of first instance has accepted part of the suit of retired ambassador Sükrü Elekdag and has decreed that newspaper Agos and historian Taner Akcam must pay him 10,000 YTL compensation. Agos lawyers have announced an appeal.
