D&R Book Store Censors Bir+Bir Magazine
The D&R book stores stopped sales for the current issue of the bir+bir magazine because customers complained about a "denigration of the national anthem" in a poem printed in the issue. The magazine criticized the decision and urged their readers not to be deterred by fascism.

District Governor Sued out Censorship
A local court in Çine imposed a publication ban on the Çine Uğur newspaper and an access block on the daily's website. The paper had reported about alleged corruption of the district governor. Publication director Sağlık criticized the decision and questioned press freedom.

A Şanlıurfa court decided to ban access to the Sanlıurfa.com website due to articles and reader comments criticizing Deputy Governor Yıdıray Malğaç. Assoc. Prof. Dr Akdeniz said the decision was a breach of the law.

Turkey Convicted of Censorship and Intervention against Demonstrators
The European Court of Human Rights found Turkey guilty of a violation of freedom of expression because of bans of Yedinci Gün and Toplumsal Demokrasi newspapers. Turkey was also convicted in cases filed by journalist Arpat and 13 demonstrators respectively.
