Businessman Implicated in The "Ergenekon Coup" Case Released

Sinan Aygün, who was in prison in connection with the Ergenekon investigation, has been released. He said “the words such as coup and coup making have no place in his dictionary.

Head of Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Sinan Aygün, who was arrested in connection with the Ergenekon investigation, has been released from Kocaeli Kandıra No 1 F Type High Security Prison.

In the press release given at the ATO Council, he said:

“I had no doubt that I was going to be cleared of the allegations. I trust the Turkish justice all the way, because words such as coup or coup making have no place in my dictionary and I know very well that such things damage the Turkish business life. I saw many times that usually nothing happens to the politicians, but our businesses get disrupted.”

“I have never been anti-constitutional”

“I believe with all my heart that democracy is the only option for our country and I have been ATO’s president for eleven years with this understanding. I have never done anything anti-democratic. I have never been anti-constitutional.”

“I was a guest for 14 days”

“You were always been on my side. That is how I comforted myself. I was our state’s guest for 14 days. They took good care of me in both Ankara and Istanbul Police Departments. They ordered food for us. The same thing happened later in Metris and Kandıra prisons.” (NZ/EZÖ/TB)
