Taken into custody as part of an investigation against the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) in Turkey's Kurdish-majority Hakkari province at the night of August 14, 12 of 13 people have been arrested.
As reported by the Mezopotamya Agency (MA), detained in Hakkari city center, Şemdinli, Çukurca and Yüksekova, 12 people were taken to the courthouse today (August 18). They first deposed at the prosecutor's office, then they were referred to court with a request for their arrest.
While Hividar Ertunç, Peoples Democratic Party (HDP) Çukruca Mayor candidate in 2019 elections, has been released following the related procedures at the security directorate, 12 people standing before the court have been arrested on charge of "being members of the organization."
They have been sent to the Hakkari Prison.
The names of the arrested are as follows: Former Co-Mayor of Hakkari province Şükrü Çallı, Human Rights Association (İHD) Şemdinli district executive Pınar Yılmaz, Nihat Turgut, Ramazan Erik, Mehmet Emin Seven, Ömer Faruk Tekin, Mesut Kıratlı, Reşît Güneç, Mehmet Çapraz, Ümit Duman, Felem Aker, Musa Bor.
