Police Tank Crashes 12 y.o. in Van Province
A police tank known as scorpion dived into the crowd of demonstrators and crashed a 12 year-old boy. While the child was heavily wounded and had a brain operation, Peace and Democracy Party Deputy Özdal Üçer stated that the boy was shoe shiner and he was passing there in order to go home.

The Ministry of Interior relieved Van Mayor Bekir Kaya of his duties after authorities arrested him as part of the ongoing probe into the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) in the eastern province of Van, even before the expiration of his grace period to appeal.

A total of 24 people including journalist Pamuk, NGO members, politicians and children, were taken into custody in the scope of KCK operations in the pre-dominantly Kurdish cities of Van, Şırnak, Mardin, Muş, Bingöl, Ağrı and Diyarbakır, five people were arrested.

4 Students in Custody for Attending Demonstrations
4 students in Van who were active in recent student protests were taken into custody by the Anti-Terror Police on 11 May. They were allowed to talk to their lawyers only after 24 hours. The lawyers are barred from seeing the file because of a decision of confidentiality.

Defendant Abi Released Pending Trial
Ferzinde Abi, one out of 17 defendants of the KCK Trial in Van, was released pending trial due to health reasons. The President Judge had five-year-old Argeş removed from the courtroom because he 'disturbed his conscience'. The boy stays in prison with his detained mother.
