522 Unsolved Murders in Four Years
"Nobody who commits a crime gets away with it any more. Unsolved murders are not an issue", President Gül recently announced. The Turkish Human Rights Report 2010 prepared by TİHV draws a different picture. 522 unsolved murders were registered in the past four years.

522 Unsolved Murders in 5 Years
Research of the Human Rights Association in Eastern and South-Eastern Turkey revealed 375 cases of unsolved murders from 2006 till the present. According to data compiled by the Turkish Human Rights Foundation, a total of 522 unsolved murders were committed.

Rights Organizations 3 Years ahead of Foreign Minister
Foreign Minister Davutoğlu recently spoke about efforts for legal amendments regarding freedom of expression cases at the ECHR. The Turkish Human Rights Foundation sent an according petition to the PM 3.5 years ago. The Anti-Terror Act, the Press Law and other regulations have to change.

"CHP Avoids Kurdish Question"
Opposition leader Kılıçdaroğlu talked to the Prime Minister and proposed five suggestions for a solution of the Kurdish question. Former President of the Diyarbakır Medical Chamber İpekyüz criticized that the proposals are insignificant in the present situation.

In demonstrations organized in Istanbul, Diyarbakır and Ankara, rights organizations drew attention to ongoing torture in Turkey. They emphasized that torture cases have increased since 2005. The organizations criticized impunity and official expertise.

73 out of 100 People Say Definite "No" to Torture
According to a research on "Othering and Discrimination in Turkey", 27 out of 100 people would approve of torture "in certain situations". Turkish Human Rights Foundation President Korur Fincancı claims that the according percentage among physicians amounts to 34 percent.

İHD-TİHV 2009 HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT
2009: 36 Deaths in Prison, 36 Deaths for Ignoring "Stop Warning"
According to the annual report of the Turkish rights organizations İHD and TİHV for 2009, 36 people died in prison, 6 in detention, 61 were shot by village guards, 36 died for ignoring the police's "stop warning". 50 soldiers and 91 armed militants died in conflicts.

12 Extra-Judicial Killings in Three Months
According to the Turkish Human Rights Foundation, seven people died in detention in the first quarter of 2009 and another five in extra-judicial executions by the police and the gendarmerie. Two people died in detention in April, one was severely injured by police bullets.
