Answering the questions of bianet from the prison where he is kept, HDP's presidential candidate Demirtaş has explained how he keeps fit, his meeting program, his first practice when he is elected and his candidacy period in prison.

Presidential Principal Consultant Çevik has advocated that Demirtaş’s arrest should continue, and resolution process may recommence after the election. Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın has refuted Çevik’s statement.

Presidential candidate of the HDP Selahattin Demirtaş has sent a letter from prison to Mother Xano, who is seen in a video to be listening to a folk song played and sung by Demirtaş. He has written, “I will come and sing you folk songs in person.”

CHP presidential candidate İnce and CHP MPs Tanrıkulu, Yarkadaş, Sayek Böke and Erdem have called for the release of HDP’s imprisoned presidential candidate Demirtaş.

HDP has launched its election campaign with posters of Demirtaş’s photos and videos with the slogan “Senle değişir her şey/Tu dikari” (Everything changes with you).

At a time when it is considered likely that Selahattin Demirtaş, the former Co-Chair of HDP, who is currently in prison, will run as a Presidential candidate, a new hashtag calling for his release has been started on social media.

Former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş has sent a message about the snap election from Edirne Type F Prison, where he has been kept since November 4, 2016.

Emphasizing that one of the two arrest warrants issued for Selahattin Demirtaş has a maximum arrest period of 18 months, his attorney Karaman has submitted a request for release for Demirtaş on the ground that he has been in prison for the last 17 months.

With Demirtaş completing his defense on the third day of the trial, the court has ruled in favor of the prosecutor’s demand that former HDP Co-Chair’s arrest be continued.

HDP Co-Chair Demirtaş stood trial today as part of the trial in which he is tried on charge of “insulting president”.

HDP Co-Chair Demirtaş will be taken to court tomorrow for the first time following a 14-month detention.

HDP’s imprisoned Co-Chair Demirtaş has said, “In order to keep going with a fresh excitement, I want it to be known that I am not going to be a candidate for Co-Chair”.

Evaluating the Constitutional Court rejecting Demirtaş’s application, HDP MP Meral Danış Beştaş has said, “The Constitutional Court is now a part of the executive. It is forced to work by executive power’s order and instructions”.

The court has ruled continuation of arrest of HDP Co-Chair Demirtaş who has been tried on 31 summaries. The next hearing is on February 14.

HDP MP Baydemir has submitted a parliamentary inquiry with respect to Ministry of Justice sending a note calling HDP’s imprisoned Co-Chair Demirtaş “militant” to court.
