KCK OPERATIONS
Dozens in Police Custody - 7 Arrests
A total of 24 people including journalist Pamuk, NGO members, politicians and children, were taken into custody in the scope of KCK operations in the pre-dominantly Kurdish cities of Van, Şırnak, Mardin, Muş, Bingöl, Ağrı and Diyarbakır, five people were arrested.

12 People Arrested after KCK Operations
17 people were taken into custody in the course of operations against the KCK in several provinces last week. Twelve of them were arrested. Lawyer Aktar said that he has only limited access to the file because the investigation was classified.

KCK Declines Responsibility for Bomb Attack - Ceasefire Extended
The Democratic Confederation of Kurdistan, the umbrella organization for the militant PKK, distanced itself from the bomb attack in Istanbul on Sunday that left 32 people injured. The organization declared to extend the ceasefire until the general elections in 2011.

Öcalan Calls for Democratic Peace to Extend Ceasefire
In the end of September, Karayılan from the Democratic Confederation of Kurdistan had announced to extend the ceasefire for another month. Imprisoned PKK leader Öcalan now criticized the "elimination policies" of the government and said he might take a different decision on 31 October.

98 NGOs Call for End of Violence - PKK Refuse Unilateral Ceasefire
98 NGOs from Diyabakır call for an end of the military operations. They urge the PKK to stop their actions and demand the Parliament to prepare the legal grounds for a solution of the Kurdish question. The PKK waits for concrete steps before they will act accordingly.

End of PKK Ceasefire?
The KCK Executive Council Presidency announced that the near future will either see "a democratic solution or resistance". PKK leader Karayılan said at Reuters: "We can end the ceasefire and resume the armed struggle".
