KCK: Government Must Take A Step Forward
KCK Executive Council Co-Presidency released a statement on the ongoing peace process, saying that Kurdish movement has done for its part but the Turkish government delayed the process by not taking any concrete steps.

A court in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır ruled to release anthropologist Müge Tuzcuoğlu and eight more suspects pending trial in the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) suit. Tuzcuoğlu criticized efforts to garner support against such trials through the use of personal imagery and emphasized the institutional nature of such crackdowns.

A court in the eastern province of Van decided to release Murat Aydın, a reporter for the Dicle news agency (DİHA,) and Bulanık Deputy District Mayor Ali Topçu on Tuesday. Aydın and Topçu had entered prison on October last year within the scope of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) trials.

Demands for pleading in Kurdish marked the first hearing of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) trial of 44 journalists on Monday. Chief Justice Ali Alçık also filed a complaint against the court audience during the second hearing on Tuesday and refused to enter the defense lawyers’ pleas into the court records.

Students, Journalist Released From Prison in Wake of Judicial Reform
Turkish authorities released journalist Abdülmenaf Düzenci on Monday after he spent 17 months behind bars in connection with terrorism related charges, marking the first such occasion since the ratification of the Third Judicial Reform Package last week. Officials also released 14 students on Tuesday but ruled against the release of Oda TV suspects.

The heads of the Anti-Terror Branch in charge of the KCK operations and of the Intelligence Branch were deposed from office. This happened right after the statements of officials of the National Intelligence Agency had been taken in the scope of the KCK operation.

Kurdish Politician Alınak Back to Prison
Mahmut Alınak was arrested again together with Mehmet Ayata, Yalçın Sarıtaş and Sebahat Zeynep Arat upon the prosecutor's appeal. They were taken to a prison in Istanbul. Alınak had initially been released pending trial after the KCK operation on 22 November.

The European lawyers federations AED and ELDH with 16 member countries urged the Turkish government in a joint statement to release the lawyers recently imprisoned in the scope of the KCK investigation.

70 Arrests in Istanbul and Diyarbakır
34 people were arrested in Istanbul on 26 November. They were part of a group of 46 people, mostly lawyers, who were taken into custody on 22 November in the course of KCK operations. In Diyarbakır, 36 out of 43 people in custody were detained.
