Co-Mayors Rabia Takas and Tahir Aytış from Başverimli Municipality in Silopi district of Şırnak province have been arrested on charges of being a member of an “[illegal] organization” and “propagandizing for an [illegal] organization”. With the latest arrests, the number of arrested co-Mayors has risen to 40.

Not permitted to meet HDP’s arrested Co-Mayor Demirtaş, Party of European Socialists Chair has said arrests are not acceptable.

Mardin's suspended Co-Mayor Ahmet Türk and Mardin’s Artuklu district’s Co-Mayor Emin Irmak have been taken into custody.

Since September 11 trustees have been appointed to 1 MHP municipality, 3 AKP municipalities and 34 DBP municipalities. 37 co-mayors from 27 DBP municipalities are under arrest as of November 17.

Vice Co-Mayor of Hakkari Yıldız has been arrested over “[illegal] organization membership”. In total 34 DBP co-chairs are in prison.
