The Van Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has indicted Osman Şiban, whom soldiers threw from a helicopter in Turkey’s Kurdish-majority eastern province of Van.

Journalist Mimar Kaya, who filmed the argument between the police and the driver of a service vehicle in Turkey’s Kurdish-majority Hakkari province, was taken into custody. He has been released after giving his statement.

Police first raided the home and then called the lawyer by phone to summon her to testify, Keskin has said.

HDP’s Ersoy says that while Kaya was handcuffed behind his back and shot in the back of his head at close range, “the city surveillance cameras were not recording” in the meantime as in the case of several files where the police are perpetrators.

While the Governor's Office says the deceased man had resisted the police, there are reports claiming that the incident was an extrajudicial killing.

The party has raised concerns over impunity as no progress has been made about the 2015 killing of the lawyer.
