21 Years Prison Sentence for Kurdish Editor Özen
A Diyarbakır Court sentenced Kurdish Azadiya Welat newspaper owner Ozan Kılınç to 15months imprisonment each for twelve issues of the paper. Additionally, he received a six years three months sentences charged with "committing a crime on behalf of an illegal organization". An arrest warrant was issued for Kılınç.

Thousands of People Demonstrated for PKK Leader Öcalan
Thousands of people in several cities organized demonstrations on the 11th anniversary of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan's extradition to Turkey. BDP members voiced their protest against arrests of party members due to the "KCK operation". Clashes occurred in several cities.

Armenian Co-Patriarchate Candidate Çulciyan in Istanbul
Co-patriarchate candidate Sebuy Çulçiyan visited Istanbul in the run-up to the elections. Çulciyan called for brotherhood and said that murdered journalist Hrant Dink's message of dialogue and communication is being conveyed beyond his death.

A hacker forced access to the website of Armenian Agos newspaper and posted a photograph of Hrant Dink murderer suspect Ogün Samast on the main page. The hacker published threats and insults towards people who supported assassinated journalist Dink.

Kurdish Artist Rojda on Trial
Kurdish artists Rojda was taken into custody by reason of having spread "propaganda for an illegal organization" by performing a Kurdish song at a festival in Diyarbakır. Rojda is one of 160 artists invited by the Prime Minister to discuss the "Kurdish initiative".

Disciplinary Fine for Detained Conscientious Objector Aydemir
The Eskişehir Military Court imposed a one-month disciplinary fine on conscientious objector Enver Aydemir because of his refusal to wear prison clothes and disobedience of orders. Aydemir is not allowed for one month to see anybody else but his lawyer.

A secret witness of the murder of Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink claimed that prime supect Ogün Samast killed Dink together with alleged instigator Yasin Hayal. In a statement to the prosecution the witness also said that Osman Hayal watched the incident.

35-year-old transsexual women Derya T. was stabbed to death at her home in Antalya on 8 February. The police are investigating the matter. Another transsexual woman was injured with a knife two days earlier in Ankara.

State Remains Untouched in Dink Murder Case
In the 12th hearing of the Dink case, the joint attorneys of the Dink family requested to review the Cage Action Plan file. The decision was left to the prosecutor. None of the detained defendants was released. The court refused to hear intelligence officers accused of "neglect".

Turkish Cameraman Assaulted at Work
Cameraman Ertuğrul Yılmaz form Kanal 48 was attacked when he took footage of rubble dropped in a forest in Marmaris on the Mediterranean coast. Yılmaz was taken to hospital with a broken nose and broken ribs. A complaint was filed with the attackers.

Sentence for Juveniles' "Light Bulb Tayyip" Slogans
Eight trials have been launched against three high school students in Bursa for the slogan "Light bulb Tayyip". The juveniles were convicted in three cases, so far only one court ruled for their acquittal. Young O.K. was found guilty of the same charges in Bursa last year.
