Authorities from the ruling AKP have gone to the Supreme Election Council (YSK) with three suitcase-load of documents and submitted a petition of extraordinary objection to the YSK, requesting that re-elections be held in İstanbul.

The opposition's winning-but-not-yet-mandated candidate for the İstanbul mayorship, Ekrem İmamoğlu, was at the football games of "the Big Three," Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş, on the weekend. Supporters welcomed him with slogans.

The "Tahir Elçi Human Rights Foundation" has been founded in the memory of late Diyarbakır Bar Association Chair Elçi, who was killed in the southeastern city in 2015.

The debate on İstanbul elections continued over the weekend, with the main opposition saying it expects to be given the certificate of election today, while AKP announced it will appeal for a repeat election.

The Council will examine the claims of the father of Rabia Naz, who died suspiciously last year.

The YSK has ruled that elected municipal council members who were previously discharged from posts upon statutory decrees shall not be given a mandate, repeating its verdict for the elected mayors.
