The Supreme Election Council (YSK) has ruled that the local elections shall be cancelled and repeat elections shall be held in İstanbul, where CHP’s Ekrem İmamoğlu was elected the Metropolitan Mayor according to unofficial local election results.

State-run Anadolu Agency has alleged that 43 balloting committee chairs and members investigated in relation with İstanbul local elections have links with the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which is held responsible for July 15 coup attempt.

Announcing its verdict on the individual applications of journalists Ahmet Altan, Nazlı Ilıcak and Ali Bulaç, the Constitutional Court has ruled that there is no violation of rights in arrest of Ilıcak and Altan. The court has accepted the application of Bulaç.
