Istanbul Movie by Spanish Artist Muntadas on the Web
The movie about myths and stereotypes in Istanbul made by renowned Spanish artist Antoni Muntadas in cooperation with Açık Radio will be shown at a gala ceremony on 7 October in the Istanbul Modern museum. Before that, the movie can be viewed via the internet.

The Sledgehammer investigation was apparently "halted" after a meeting of Prime Minister Erdoğan and General Başbuğ, as reported by Taraf newspaper. The Hürriyet daily sees the reason in expected promotions of 11 generals and admirals part of the group of army officers subject to arrest warrants in the course of the investigation.

73 out of 100 People Say Definite "No" to Torture
According to a research on "Othering and Discrimination in Turkey", 27 out of 100 people would approve of torture "in certain situations". Turkish Human Rights Foundation President Korur Fincancı claims that the according percentage among physicians amounts to 34 percent.

Prosecutor Cihaner on Trial as "Ergenekon" Defendant
The Erzurum 2nd High Criminal Court rejected the application for lack of jurisdiction regarding Ergenekon defendant Chief Prosecutor Cihaner. The court decided that permission from the Ministry of Justice is not needed for the prosecution of 3 MIT officials.

According to the Media Monitoring Report issued by the BİA Media Monitoring Desk regarding July, August and September 2009, 190 people are prosecuted, 74 of them journalists, in 80 cases concerned with freedom of expression.
