Investigation into CHP Leader Kılıçdaroğlu over 'Defamation'

Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against Republican People's Party (CHP) Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu upon denunciation by President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Erdoğan filed a criminal complaint today (December 6).

In the complaint, Erdoğan claimed that Kılıçdaroğlu defamed him in the speech he delivered at “Equality and Justice Women’s Meeting” held yesterday.

Kılıçdaroğlu was also sued for revealing the documents on Erdoğan’s family members and acquaintances’ money transfer receipts.

What did Kılıçdaroğlu say?

In his speech, Kılıçdaroğlu spoke about the Isle of Man documents trial of Reza Zarrab in the United States.

“Why does 15 million dollar come to a company of 1 Sterling? This company is commercial, they claim..What company is this? No response. Who are its partners? No response. Why were those transfers made? No response. What is the capital of the company? No response. Who is Kazım Öztaş? No response.

“The ministers prostrated themselves before Rıza Sarraf (Reza Zarrab). They awarded him with a plaque.

“A commission was set up in the parliament. The AKP (Justice and Development Party) MPs bribed the corrupt ministers. They prevented the corrupt ministers from being referred to the grand chamber.

“Who were these MPs? Hakkı Köylü, Yılmaz Tunç, Kemal Şerbetçioğlu, İlknur İncegöz, İsmet Su, Bilal Uçar, Yusuf Başer, Ayşe Türkmenoğlu”.

“They’ve gotten worried that Sarraf would talk. The United States has imprisoned the man who would be awarded with the medal of honor. We sent diplomatic note twice for a briber, for a fraud”. (AS/TK)
