YPG Press Center released the names of 8 individuals who were killed in action against ISIS in Kobane.
Among the deceased is Hakan Çelik (25), a former bianet intern who had recently completed his journalism degree in Istanbul University.
According to the information by Çelik family, their son’s body has been transferred to Istanbul as of this morning and been buried in Büyükçekmece Cemetary.
YPG Press Center announced that Hakan Çelik, under alias Rizgar Rêzan, died on October 20.
Çelik’s smile
Hakan Çelik started internship at bianet in November 2012. His work included reporting of Saturday Mothers/People sit-ins, student protests, Roboski Massacre and women’s rights struggles.
“Being on the side of students to report on their resistance and covering Roboski Massacre commemorations were not simply newsworthy things for me,” he wrote in his bianet internship commencement article.
