Northern Cyprus President: No Solid Agreement without Public Acclaim

The President of Northern Cyprus, Mustafa Akıncı stated they were at the bottom of the ladder about the ownership of Cyprus.

Akıncı said he didn’t want the mutual agreement to be violated.

“Even a name for a village wasn’t decided”

According to the news of Kıbrıs Postası (a daily newspaper in Northern Cyprus), Akıncı told “A map or even a name for a village weren’t decided at the negotiation table. They all will be decided in due time.”

The President Akıncı:

“Negotiation process and subsequent developments are our future,” and stated he would inform the government, political parties and the press about the process.

Bizonality

Akıncı reminded he cared for the good of two parties in Cyprus dispute and added when they adopted European Union norms, it didn’t mean they gave up bizonality.

Public acclaim

President of Northern Cyprus emphasized they would give enough time for people until a referendum took place and people would be informed in detail and they wouldn’t come to a solid agreement without public acclaim:

 “We will defend our rights and respect opposite party’s rights. People will decide and approve the agreement. I will do my best about it…” (YY/BD)
