Sabancı University Corporate Management Forum has launched the campaign of the 30% Club in Turkey.
The 30% Club launched as a campaign in the UK in 2010 with a goal of achieving a minimum of 30% women on FTSE-100 boards.
İstanbul Stock Exchange Executive Board Chair Himmet Karadağ, 30% Club Council of Turkey Chair and Akkök Holding CEO Ahmet Cemal Dördüncü, Member of the UK Board of the Big Lottery Fund Elizabeth Passey and 30% Club Committee of Steering Turkey Chair and Sabancı University Corporate Management Forum Director Dr. Melsa Arar each delivered a speech in the meeting hosted by İstanbul Stock Exchange.
Founding President of the 30% Club, Helena Morissey in a video message she sent stressed that gender equality on executive boards is not a matter of woman but an approach to transform business culture.
Woman rate on boards has increased to 27% from 12%
Passey told the 30% Club started in England in 2010.
Currently the figure stands at 27% up from 12.5%. This figure is 14.2% in Turkey.
The campaign aims to increase the figure to 30% by 2020.
