Lambdaistanbul, LGBTI Solidarity Association invites everybody to gather in its new office at 4 p.m. tomorrow (March 18) and plan the events for the coming months.
Turkey's first LGBTI organization Lambdaistanbul, which began as house-gatherings, had to move its office several times during the last couple of years and was exposed to discrimination some times during this period.
Now, Lambdaistanbul has moved to Impact Hub İstanbul, a social impact based, co-working space and event venue and holds its first meeting tomorrow.
Lambdaistanbul's call reads as follows:
"This is a new experience for us. Having our previous experiences in locations which belonged to us, we don't know yet, what this new experience will bring for us and take away from us, in short, we don't know what lies ahead of us. Although we were led to take this decision due to certain circumstances, we are pretty excited about the future that lies before us.
"While taking this decision, there were times where we had the feeling that existing in such a location might be a bit contrary to the soul of Lambdaistanbul which we were familiar with. But on the other hand, we wanted to believe that such a step would have a transforming and strengthening effect. We think that this place would at least be a safe opportunity to ensure Lamda's continuity until the circumstances which have a severe effect on all social movements change in favor of all of us.
"And now we call on to all the friends of Lambdaistanbul: Come on March 18, Saturday at 4 p.m and let's go around together in our new location, think and plan together. Let's decide together on the events Lambdaistanbul will carry out in the coming months. Let's transform together, either we fall or we get up again, but let's do it together like we always have for the last 24 years.
"Don't leave us alone in this journey".
The program for tomorrow is as follows:
16.00 Moving in
16.30 Who/What is Lambdaistanbul?
16:45 How did we end up in Lambdaistanbul ?
17.15 Coffee break
17.30 Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities of the new location (SWOT analysis)
18:30 Planning the future
