Ahead of the session at the European Parliament (EP) in which post July 15 coup attempt developments will be evaluated, Turkey rapporteur for the EP Kati Piri has said the State of Emergency implementation has turned into a pressure tool against the Kurds.
From the Liberal Democrat Group of the EP, Marietje Schaake expressed that "it is important in a state of law to close the cracks paving the way for shadow forces" but added that "it is worrisome for Europe that this is used to suppress the dissident circles".
Piri and Schaake answered the questions of the BBC Türkçe in the Hague ahead of the meeting at which Turkey will be discussed.
In response to the accusations that Europe has supported Fethullah Gülen movement following the July 15 coup attempt, both parliamentary members said that it was the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government that promoted and supported the Gülen movement. (AS/TK)
