Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey (YSK), announced the general election timetable. The election will be held on November 1, according to the timetable.
The voting will start on October 8 and finish on October 25, for the ones living abroad.
List of the candidates will be announced on September 28. Allowance for electioneering will start on October 22 and finish on October 31.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu submitted proposals for ministries for a provisional government on August 26 to the deputies of Republican People’s Party (CHP), Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).
MHP Ankara deputy Tuğrul Türkeş (the son of Alparslan Türkeş, former president of the Nationalist Movement Party) had accepted the proposal of Davutoğlu and MHP indicated that Türkeş would be sent to Nationalist Movement Party’s discipline committee.
MHP had stated they wouldn’t participate in a provisional government before.
“I thank dear Tuğrul Türkeş since he said yes to my proposal. He behaved like a statesman in spite of all oppressions. He was under great pressure, but he resisted,” PM Davutoğlu said.
9 males, 2 females
Prime Minister Davutoğlu, had proposed 9 male and 2 female deputies from CHP, HDP and MHP. In other words, 18% of the names are females while 82% of them are males. Two deputies, Deniz Baykal and Erdoğan Toprak from CHP rejected the proposals.
PM will submit the proposal to Justice and Development Party (AKP) and independent deputies tomorrow.
HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, called for Davutoğlu to elect female deputies for the half of the ministries.
HDP awaits
HDP stated they would be in the provisional government. HDP deputies who were proposed for ministries told they would decide in accordance with the decision of Peoples’ Democratic Party. (AB/ÇT/BD)
