Şırnak Governorship has announced that curfew has been declared to be in effect in the provincial center of Şırnak province as of today (March 14) 11 p.m.
The announcement made public in the official website of the governorship reads as follows:
“In order to catch members of the terrorist organization, remove ditches and barricades trapped with explosives and provide security of the lives and property of our citizens, curfew has been declared in Şırnak Provincial Center as of 14.03.2016 Monday in accordance with Article 11/c of the Provincial Administration Law no 5442, 23:00 till further notice”.
About Şırnak According to data from Turkish Statistical Institute for the year 2011 given quoted on the official website of the governorship, the population residing in Şırnak Center reaches 61,335. Şırnak Governor: Ali İhsan Su Municipal Co-Mayors: Özlem Onuk – Serhat Kadırhan Districts of the province are Beytüşşebap, Cizre, Güçlükonak, İdil, Silopi and Uludere in addition to the provincial center. |
Among the districts of Şırnak, curfew had been declared in Cizre and Silopi on December 14, 2015. The curfew in Cizre had been reduced to be in effect for a half day on March 1 and in Silopi on January 18, 2016.
