Two police officers were killed, one other was wounded in a fire commenced from a vehicle on a check point in front of the Area Traffic Directorate in Hatay last night (July 9).
Issuing a statement following the attack, Hatay Governorship stated that an operation has been launched in order to capture the assailants who have run away.
Governor Erdal Ata said that it was confirmed that the attack was carried out by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members.
One of the killed police officers was Bayram Bozdoğan (42) and the other was Hayrettin Mennan (42). Treatment of the heavily wounded police officer Samet Kılınçsarı (26) continues in the hospital. (NV/TK)
