Detention warrants have been issued for four people from Sözcü Newspaper.
The operation has been launched into the four people including newspaper’s owner, Burak Akbay, as part of “FETÖ/PDY (Fethullahist Terror Organization/Parallel State Structure)” investigation, Hürriyet daily reported.
Detentions and searches are carried out in the determined addresses upon an instruction by the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The detention warrants have been issued for Burak Akbay, director in charge of Internet Melda Olgun, Fiscal Manager Yonca Kaleli and reporter Gökmen Ulu. Burak Akbay is abroad.
The operation was launched on charges of “committing crime on behalf of an illegal organization though not being a member of it”, “facilitating assault against the president”, “facilitating armed attack against the government of Republic of Turkey”, according to Sabah’s report.
The report added that Sözcü publishing the address and images of the hotel in which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was on vacation during July 15 coup attempt was among the charges pressed against the defendants. (EA/TK)
