CNNTürk laid off its social media editor after the removal of a tweet message by Atilla Taş from an article where celebrity tweets were compiled during the presidential elections coverage.
The aforementioned tweet cited the following: “Indeed, we would be scr…d if Ahmet Davutoğlu became the PM.”
Following criticism, CNNTürk removed the tweet from the article and released a statement apologizing to Davutoğlu and informing that their social media has been laid off yesterday.
“At early hours on August 11 and with a sense of carelessness, cnnturk.com website and twitter account contained statements that does not at all reflect CNNTürk’s broadcasting manners and corporate attitude.
“The aforementioned incident is an obvious and clear violation of Doğan Publishing Group values and broadcasting principle.
“Following that the matter was brought to our attention, the aforementioned statements were removed from broadcasting platforms and we had an evaluation of how it happened.
“After this evaluation, we have decided to warn those who had negligence and immediately lay off the social media editor who did the problematic broadcasting.
“As CNNTürk, we would like to reiterate that we have no tolerance for acts against our editorial policy and sincerely apologize to FM Ahmet Davutoğlu one more time." (NV/BM)
