Reporters Sand Frontiers (RSF) released a statement, saying that recent protests across Turkey left at least 12 journalists injured in Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara.
“Unfortunately, police didn’t take any lessons from Gezi Resistance,” the statement cited.
“Even though 3 months passed after Gezi Resistance, police resumes its unbalanced violent abuses. They are targeting journalists who are covering the events.
“As the violence in May and June went unpunished, perpetrators of these unacceptable acts are being encouraged.
A list released by RSF on the latest journalist attacks included:
Ali Açar and Kaan Sağnak (Cumhuriyet newspaper), Ufuk Koşar (Freelance), Bülent Doruk (Atatolia Agency), Ozan Köse (Agence France-Presse photographer), Ahmet Şık (journalist), Rabia Çelik (Vagus Tv), Metehan Ud, Hasan Akbaş and Birkan Bulut (Evrensel newspaper), Berna Şahin (BirGün newspaper) and Rıza Özel (Hürriyet newspaper).
