Two high school students who drew 'the kettle of Demirtaş'* on the walls in the Neighborhood of Gazi in İstanbul as part of the election campaign of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) were arrested yesterday (June 5).
High school students were taken into custody on June 4 while they were drawing kettle pictures with the sentence "There is a message coming from kettle" and writing the words "Hope" and "HDP" on the walls. The students were referred to İstanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan yesterday.
The Prosecutor's Office referred the students to the Criminal Court of Peace to be arrested on charge of "propagandizing for a terrorist organization". The court ruled that the students shall be arrested on the pressed charges.
After the arrest of the students, the members of HDP wrote, "Votes to the HDP" and drew kettle pictures on the walls in the district of Beşiktaş in İstanbul. On the kettles, the election slogan of the party, "It changes with you" was also written. (AS/SD)
* A search was carried out in the prison due to tweets posted on Selahattin Demirtaş's Twitter account. The tweet "Naturally no tweet could be found in the room. There was just kettle for tea, and it was concluded that a kettle cannot post a tweet", was posted on the account, which was recently opened by Demirtaş's lawyers and party officials.
