Eight people seven of whom have been lightly injured in the explosion that occurred in a garbage dumpster as the prison bus was driving by in Turkey's western distict of Buca in İzmir.
The explosion occurred on Ahmet Piriştina Street in Kop Neighborhood, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Eight people were wounded, according to initial findings. Seven of the injured had an outpatient treatment, and the other was taken under treatment in the Emergency Room.
The explosion damaged the bus, some buildings and some parked vehicles. The area has been cordoned off and the street has been closed to traffic.
In its statement, İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that the explosion occurred due to the detonation of an improvised explosive device, and added that an operation has been launched into the incicent. (NV/TK)
