33,074 people have been discharged from the Ministry of National Education (MEB) through statutory decrees in the wake of July 15 coup attempt.
According to state-run Anadolu Agency citing MEB officials, 4,756 of the discharged personnel were sent to prison.
627 personnel discharged on the accusation of being “Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ)” members absconded.
4,513 personnel in total were suspended from duty through the statutory decrees.
339 suspended personnel were arrested.
As 810 of the detained ministry workers were released on probation, seven people who were claimed to be FETÖ members absconded.
Work permits of 22,474 teachers working at private education institutions were revoked by the governorships. Work permits of 2,182 teachers were restored. (YY/TK)
