Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı were taken into custody by Provincial Security Department Anti-Terror Division teams yesterday (October 25).
After holding a speech before the Grand National Assembly of Turkey - Coup Research Committee, Kışanak was reportedly taken into custody following her arrival at the Diyarbakır Airport. Anlı was also reportedly taken into custody in the same hours in his house.
Anlı and Kışanak’s houses in Diyarbakır, as well as the municipality building were searched by police.
Speech at the Coup Research Committee
Before being taken into custody at Diyarbakır Airport, Gültan Kışanak had held a speech before the Coup Research Committee set up in the Parliament following the coup attempt on July 15, 2016.
“If we want to throw off Parallel State Organization’s mask, we should begin looking at the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) operations. We should investigate, who has launched these operations and how”. (ÇT/DG)
