Curfew has been declared in five neighbourhoods and one street of Sur district of Diyarbakır province in addition to the six neighbourhoods of the district which have already been under curfew.
Diyarbakır sub-Governorship has announced that curfew has been declared as of January 27, 2016; 11.30 a.m. in Abdaldede, Alipaşa, Lalebey, Süleyman Nazif and Ziya Gökalp neighbourhoods as well as Melikahmet Street of Suriçi until further notice.
The curfew declared in Cevatpaşa, Fatihpaşa, Dabanoğlu, Hasırlı, Cemal Yılmaz and Savaş neighbourhoods and Gazi street of Suriçi on December 2, 2015 had temporarily been lifted on December 11 for 17 hours which was later lifted permanently in Gazi street on December 30, whereas maintained in the remaining six neighbourhoods.
Taking the last curfew declaration into account, 11 out of 15 neighbourhoods of Suriçi in total are under curfew currently.
Five more neighbourhoods and one more street
Following statement has been announced by sub-Governorship of Sur:
“Our district Sur has been experiencing difficulties in providing educational, health care and religious services as well as our citizens in having access to these services due to practices of the armed terrorist organization such as constructing barricades, digging ditches and setting up bomb traps in the neighbourhoods of our district. It has been observed that it has become difficult for our citizens to lead their daily lives under normal circumstances and the economy crippled as a result of this.
“In this sense, curfew has been declared by our sub-Governorship in Abdaldede, Alipaşa, Lalebey, Süleyman Nazif and Ziya Gökalp neighbourhoods as well as Melikahmet Street as of January 27, 2016, 11.30 a.m. until further notice to provide security of life and property of our citizens while carrying out works on closing the ditches and disposing bomb set-ups. We would like to respectfully announce to the public that is of great importance that our citizens abide by the prohibitions for the sake of providing security of their own lives and properties”.
