"I've already told my minister of health. We're preparing the law on abortion and we'll enact it" told Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the opening of a hospital in Istanbul.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ordered Ministry of Health  to prepare an 'abortion report' but it's not known what kind of information this report will include.

''Is abortion ban on the agenda?'' asked the journalists and Mr. Akdag answered:

''We are preparing a report. We'll present it to the Council of Ministers and debate  on it. ''

'' Abortion is not a way of family planning. Women’s rights are unrelated to abortion. We should not discuss women's rights but the baby's rights at that point. Abortion means scratching away a live being from his mother's womb. You are cutting off its organs and body. You are destroying it.

"Both Cesarean section and abortion are methods that should never be resorted unless there're medical necessities. I read  some debates on the press today and they all talk about women's rights. However there's also the right of the baby. Of course women should have certain rights about their own bodies but there's another live being here. That's why it's so wrong just to comment on  'women right' on this issue"

Akdağ also talked about the women's organizations protesting against the statements of Prime Minister

"A women's rights platform placed an ad on newspaper and it's full of with erroneous sentences. It's better if we define abortion as 'scratching a live being from the womb of his mother, cutting, destroying his organs and body.

''You are taking out the baby by an operation and it has numerous complications. Unfortunately someone wrote that 'abortion is a method of birth control'. These are so unscientific approaches. Abortion is not a method of family planning or a measure of reproductive health." (ÇT)
