Parliamentary Speaker Yıldırım has stated that the US should respect law, and said, “[The US] should seek solution by respecting our laws instead of imposing its demands through sanctions and president’s irresponsible tweets”.

Calling out to US President Donald Trump by saying, “You can be a President all you want,” President Erdoğan has stated that the movements in the foreign exchange do not have an economic basis. Erdoğan has also added, “There are several economic terror figures on social media.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has stated, “Turkey has never deviated from its goal of full membership of the EU” and added, “Turkey is one of the best and most trustworthy places to make an investment.”

US President Trump has tweeted, “I have just authorized a doubling of Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum with respect to Turkey as their currency, the Turkish Lira, slides rapidly downward against our very strong Dollar”.

The Spokesperson for the US Department of State Nauert has answered a question regarding the tension between the US and Turkey. Nauert has said, “The kind of progress we want is for Pastor Brunson, our locally employed staff and other American citizens to be brought home.”

Speaking about the tension between Turkey and the US about Pastor Brunson, President Erdoğan has said, “It’s not possible for us to accept such threatening language”.

US President Trump has said that the US will impose large sanctions on Turkey for long time detainment of Pastor Brunson. US Senate also passed the bill that limits Turkey getting loan from international financial institutions last week

The US Senate and House of Representatives have reached an agreement on the law draft relating to the defense expenditures in 2019 despite the objections of the US Secretary of Defense James Mattis. Accordingly, the US Congress has temporarily stopped the delivery of F-35 jets to Turkey.

Testifying before appropriations committee in the US Senate, Secretary of State Pompeo has said that he finds Turkey purchasing S-400 “risky” and touched upon detention of the Pastor Brunson.

Turkey denied claims of any assurance.

Spokesperson for the US Department of State Nauert has said Daily Sabah reporter Soylu “works for government-private partnership publication”.

US Department of State Spokesperson Nauert as to Osman Kavala and 19 activists, attorney and journalists being detained in Ankara yesterday, said that they had been following these case closely and that the detentions in Turkey were often made with very little or no evidence at all.

US Department of State Spokesperson Nauert stated that Turkey still had not provided the US the evidence regarding the arrest of two staff members of the US Diplomatic Mission in Turkey.
