On the Working Journalists Day on 10 January, the Freedom for Journalists Platform demanded to release detained journalists and lift government applications that obstruct press freedom. Journalist Şener argued that "pressure of journalists against journalists should be revealed".

Press Organizations Establish "Freedom for Journalists Platform"
14 professional press organizations decided to establish a "Freedom for Journalists Platform" and a "Commission for Action" for journalists who are detained because of their writings. Head of the platform is the President of the Turkish Journalists Association Erinç.

Bianet Awarded with National Prize for Press Freedom
bianet was awarded the Journalists Association of Turkey's Prize for Press Freedom in a ceremony in Istanbul on Saturday (24 July). Personal awards went to Sedat Ergin, and to Irfan Aktan, İsmail Saymaz and Vedat Kurşun on behalf of all journalists threatened with imprisonment.
