Anthropologist Tuzcuoğlu and Eight More Released
A court in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır ruled to release anthropologist Müge Tuzcuoğlu and eight more suspects pending trial in the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) suit. Tuzcuoğlu criticized efforts to garner support against such trials through the use of personal imagery and emphasized the institutional nature of such crackdowns.

A court finally decided to release Sevil Sevimli, a student who was arrested after she arrived in the northwestern province of Eskişehir from France as part of the Erasmus student exchange program. There are still 2824 more students serving time in jail, however.

Kurdish Journalist Released in Wake of Judicial Reform
A court in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır ruled to release Ozan Kılınç, the former chief editor of the Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat, in compliance with new amendments that came into force following the ratification of the Third Judicial Reform Package in early July.

Four defendants of the Oda TV case were released pending trial: Journalists Nedim Şener and Ahmet Şık and Odat TV writers Çoşkun Musluk and Sail Çakır. Şık and Şener presented their defence at the 12 March hearing.

The first issue of the "16 Pages" newspaper will be published on coming Friday. The "weekly opposition" newspaper aims at financial and political independence. It will be sold at major bookstores and news agents in Istanbul and Ankara.

Defendant Abi Released Pending Trial
Ferzinde Abi, one out of 17 defendants of the KCK Trial in Van, was released pending trial due to health reasons. The President Judge had five-year-old Argeş removed from the courtroom because he 'disturbed his conscience'. The boy stays in prison with his detained mother.

Writer Akhanlı Released Pending Trial
Writer Akhanlı was released pending trial in the first hearing after 113 days in detention. Akanlı was arrested this August when he entered Turkey from his home country Germany because of his alleged involvement in an armed robbery 21 years ago.

Journalist Güler Released after 3 Years Behind Bars
Erdal Güler, owner and chief editor of the Revolutionary Democracy newspaper, was released from the Kandıra Prison. The Istanbul 10th High Criminal Court decreed for a stay of execution. Güler was in jail since December 2007, his release was not expected before 2014.

Turkish nationwide dailies published the unconcealed photographs of children released in the context of the latest amendments of the Anti-Terror Law. Showing pictures of children is forbidden since it stigmatizes the children as criminals and opposes ethic principles.

Labour Party Lawyers Protested Ergenekon Trial
In the latest Ergenekon case hearing, about 20 joint attorneys of the Labour Party took off their gowns and left the court room in protest of the recent detention of Labour Party Deputy Chair Cengiz. Officer Şahbaz, tried in the second Ergenekon case, was released pending trial.
