Human Rights Association releases its annual report on rights violations in prisons. IHD received 3 519 applications regarding rights violations such as arbitrary ban on books and communication in Kurdish as well as disciplinary practices.

Currently dozens of children around Turkey are in prison. They are being kept in unacceptable conditions and may face steep prison sentences.

Tüzün, a convict in the Malatya Prison, files a complaint against the bad treatment and torture he receives and the gendarmerie files three counter investigations to intimidate him. Human Rights activist Erbey says they launch investigations against those who file complaints.

Minister of Justice announced that if imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) Abdullah Öcalan wanted to make use of his rights, then he should stop the PKK.

İHD’s Diyarbakır branch exposes the insults and threats Ahmet Kırboğa was subjected to during his transfer to another prison. They demand investigation of human rights violations in Bitlis, Siirt, Erzurum prisons.
