98 NGOs from Diyabakır call for an end of the military operations. They urge the PKK to stop their actions and demand the Parliament to prepare the legal grounds for a solution of the Kurdish question. The PKK waits for concrete steps before they will act accordingly.

TAK Claims the Responsibility for the Bomb Attack
The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons claimed responsibility for a bomb attack on a civilian bus transporting military personnel in Istanbul on Monday. The attack left five people dead, among them two special sergeants and one teenage girl.

Chief Editor of Women Magazine Detained since March!
Gurbet Çakar, editorial manager of the Kurdish-Turkish women magazine Rengê Hevîya Jinê, has been in detention for three months. A Diyarbakır court decided to extend her detention for at least 20 days. She had previously been sentenced to more than three years in jail.

Author Güler Sentenced on Behalf of Novel Characters
Author Mehmet Güler was sentenced to imprisonment of one year and three months under charges of "propaganda for an illegal organization" based on three fictional characters of his book "More difficult decisions than death". Publisher Zarakolu was acquitted.

Kurdish Initiative Continues: 120 Detentions
The police and the gendarmerie carried out operation against the Kurdish umbrella organization KCK in several cities all over Turkey. More than 120 people were taken into custody - most of them are university students and members of the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party.

Kurdish Chief Editor Released after Defence in Kurdish
A court in Diyarbakır released Mehdi Tanrıkulu, editorial manager of the Kurdish Azadiya Welat newspaper, pending trial after 1.5 months in detention. Tanrıkulu was detained because he had insisted on presenting his defence in Kurdish.

166.5 Years' Sentence for Kurdish Journalist Vedat Kurşun
Detained journalist Kurşun, former editorial manger of the Kurdish Azadiya Welat newspaper, was sentenced to 166 years and 6 months imprisonment under charges of "Membership of the PKK" and spreading PKK propaganda".

Clashes in South-Eastern Turkey - 1 Soldier and 1 Civilian Dead
Specialist Sergeant Mutlu died in an explosion during an operation in the south-eastern province of Hakkari, one military officer got injured. The General Staff announced that it was a detonative made by the PKK. One civilian died of Turkish artillery fire in northern Iraq.

2 Soldiers Died - "Stop That Bloodshed"
Private Şener in Şırnak and sergeant Aktaş in Hakkari in south-eastern Turkey died of explosives on May 8.According to an announcement of the General Staff, the explosives were placed by the militant PKK. Another 2 soldiers died in an armed conflict on 7 May.

1 Year and 10 Months in Jail for Mayor Selim Sadak
A Diyarbakır court handed down a one year's prison sentence to Siirt Mayor Sadak under charges of "spreading PKK propaganda" on the grounds of using the term "Kurdistan" in a statement. Sadak was recently sentenced to another ten months in jail for a photo in a calendar.

Demirtaş, Co-Chair of the Peace and Democracy Party, criticized the ongoing detention of 1,483 Kurdish politicians, local executives and rights defenders in the context of "KCK operations". "In eight years, we saw nothing but cruelty from AKP", he said.

Confirmed: Soldiers Killed by Mine from the Army
A gendarmerie laboratory confirmed that the mine that killed seven soldiers in South-East-Turkey in May 2009 belonged to the army. The prosecution file of the case launched by the victims' families was transferred to the Prosecutor's Office of the General Staff.

Writer Sarısözen Sentenced to 15 Months
Günlük newspaper journalist Sarısözen was handed down a 15 months prison sentence for "spreading propaganda for an illegal organization" because he called the PKK a "rebel organization". Newspaper owner Ürper was acquitted, former editorial manger Aktan is wanted by the police.

Kurdish Journalist Vedat Kurşun Sentenced to 3 Years
Former editorial manager of the Kurdish Azadiya Welat newspaper Vedat Kurşun was sentenced to three years imprisonment by a Diyarbakır court because of publishing obituaries of killed PKK members and statements of imprisoned PKK leader Öcalan.

Yet Another Trial for Pro-Kurdish Politicians Türk and Tuğluk
Banned politicians Türk and Tuğluk are now on trial regarding the hand-over of eight soldiers kept hostage by the PKK in 2007. The Ankara Chief Prosecution demands five years imprisonment each on account of a picture of PKK leader Öcalan at the place of the hand-over.

Former DTP Co-Chairs Face Heavy Prison Sentences
Former Democratic Society Party officials Türk and Tuğluk face imprisonment of 45 and 70 years respectively under charges of "spreading PKK propaganda". The former party members were imposed to a political ban after the closure of DTP.

Raid on Kurdish Roj TV in Belgium
More than ten people were arrested in the course of a police raid in the Roj television studios on Thursday morning in Belgium. The police organized simultaneous raids at 25 places all over Belgium which are supposed to be connected to the PKK.
