Prosecution Demands Conviction for Eryılmaz in Özgür Gündem Editors-On-Watch Case
Prosecution demanded journalist Tuğrul Eryılmaz, one of the Editors-in-Chief on Watch from the now-closed Özgür Gündem daily standing trial, be convicted for “publishing and spreading crimes of terrorist organizations”. The trial has been adjourned.

18 Months in Prison for Özgür Gündem Defendant Çelikkan, 15 Months for Üstün
Of the Özgür Gündem Editors-in-Chief on Watch Çelikkan has been sentenced to 18 and Üstün to 15 months in prison. As Üstün’s sentence was deferred, Çelikkan’s sentence was not as he “didn’t show remorse”.

Kızılkaya who is one of the two arrested figures of Özgür Gündem trial held by İstanbul 23rd Heavy Penal Court has been brought to court, Kemal Sancılı attended via Audio and Visual System. The court has rejected all of the demands, the hearing will continue on July 22.

Trials of 21 journalists at 13th and 22nd Heavy Penal Courts continued on February 14, 2017. Three journalists were penalized. In other trials, the prosecutor submitted similar opinion as to the accusations.
