Kurdish peace process

Following the PKK's announcement of its dissolution and disarmament, the DEM Party initiated a round of talks with political parties, concluding with a visit to the AKP.

At the AKP Conference Hall, President Erdoğan reiterated his determination to draft a new constitution during the Extended Provincial Chairs Meeting of his party.

Besê Hozat, Co-Chair of the KCK Executive Council, stated that Abdullah Öcalan must be released for the PKK to lay down arms.

The DEM Party stated that their meeting with Bahçeli took place in a "highly constructive atmosphere" and announced that they will meet with the AKP delegation tomorrow.

Calling on the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) to support a new constitution, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “Come, let’s join forces. We want a new constitution not for ourselves but for our country.”

Peace Mothers' Assembly Havva Kıran called for "No more funerals, let the tears of Turkish and Kurdish mothers stop".

Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu, has been transferred to the center by the Interior Ministry. Tekbıyıkoğlu was replaced by his deputy Ertuğrul Aslan.

Turkish intelligence will oversee the PKK's disarmament process, the president has said.

“To fully disarm, we must also trust the state," said Murat Karayılan, a senior member of the militant group that declared its disbanding.

The imprisoned PKK leader had called on the group to disband in late February.

“While the dark shadow of a chain reaction of wars and conflicts continues to dominate humanity and geographies, the rise of peace and stability in the Turkish Century represents a tremendous historical shift,” said Bahçeli.

“The state is not managing this process on the basis of any negotiations related to the terrorist organization’s disbanding and disarmament," says the Communications Directorate.

Bakırhan and Buldan believe the militant group's move could pave the way for Turkey's democratization.

The communications director and the justice minister hailed the PKK's decision as a success of the government's push for a "terror-free Turkey."
