Deputy Prime Minister Çiçek remarked that signs in both languages, Turkish and Kurdish, can be put up at the market stalls, whereas a municipality is not allowed to issue their water bills in Kurdish. At the same time, the Didim Municipality offers services in English.

The Diyarbakır court trying the KCK trial once more insisted on hearing the defendants' defence speeches in Turkish and again dismissed the request for a defence in Kurdish. The defendants are equally determined. Hundreds of people protested the case before the Thursday hearing.

Six-Month Sentence for Speaking Kurdish in Election Campaign
Three members of the dissolved pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party received prison sentences of six months each by the Midyat Magistrate Criminal Court in south-eastern Turkey. The three defendants were found guilty of making election propaganda in Kurdish.
