Law enforcement officials detained 65 members of the Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (KESK) in sweeping raids across Turkey on Monday morning as part of the ongoing probe into the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK,) sparking protests in Ankara and other cities. Officials reportedly asked the detainees why they chanted slogans against the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP.)

4+4+4 EDUCATION DRAFT BILL
RedHack Supported KESK Protest - Quarrel at Parliament
RedHack hacked the websites of dozens of police directorates all over the country in support of the KESK protest against the education draft law. Demonstrators were constantly exposed to tear gas and water cannons during the two-day protest. The related debate at parliament had to be interrupted twice due to tensions between the MPs.

A study of the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey revealed that the new 4+4+4 education model will cost at least TL 20.7 billion. KESK and Eğitim Sen protest against the draft bill in Ankara on 28/29 March despite a lack of permission.

Nine women union members affiliated with the KESK trade union confederation were arrested on 17 February. "Oppression and custodies will not intimidate us" said KESK members one day earlier when 14 female union members had been taken into custody during a KCK operation.

Homes in various provinces are being searched in the scope of new KCK operations. Women executives of KESK and affiliated trade unions are taken into custody. KESK Chairman Özgen claimed the operation aimed at obstructing actions on Women's Day on 8 March.
