President Erdoğan and his counterpart from Russia had a phone call after Syrian army's advances in Idlib province.

UN Secretary General Spokesperson Dujarric has warned that “the continued escalation in north-west Syria and the prospect of an offensive deeper into Idlib could trigger a new wave of human suffering possibly impacting more than 3 million people.”

The Syrian Army has taken control of Khan Sheikhoun, a key town for the opposition in Idlib. Supported by Turkey, the Free Syrian Army has also confirmed that the rebels have withdrawn from the town.

The Turkish Armed Forces military convoy heading to Morek observation point in Idlib stopped after bombings as the Syrian Army continues efforts to encircle Khan Sheikhoun town. Turkey's Defense Ministry has condemned the airstrike.

Maria Zakharova, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, has commented on President and AKP Chair Erdoğan’s statements on a possible “military operation in the east of Euphrates” in Syria and warned Turkey.

Çavuşoğlu has said, "No one can give an ultimatum to Turkey. Turkey has purchased the S-400 defense system from Russia, as our President said," in a joint press conference with his counterpart from France.

The conflicts near Aleppo have spread to the Syrian province of Idlib. At least 100 people have died in the conflicts between the Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham and the National Front for Liberation, which identifies itself as part of the Free Syrian Army.

Five-year-old Onur Özalp, who was hit by an armored police vehicle while playing in front of his house in the district of İdil in Şırnak nine months ago, has lost his life. Özalp was living in his house, connected to a life support unit.

Speaking after his meeting with President Erdoğan on Idlib, President of Russia Putin said, “We agreed that by October 15, we will create along the contact line between the armed opposition and government troops a demilitarized zone of a depth of 15-20 km.”

US Representative has recalled “Turkey’s call for truce” in Tehran Summit and Idlib meeting. UN Secretary General has stated that civilians have been killed in Idlib and called on Turkey, Russia and Iran to “spare no effort to find solutions that protect civilians”.

UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura has started a new initiative of mediation to establish peace in Syria. Mistura will hold two-day negotiations with representatives from Russia, Iran and Turkey.

Iran’s President Rouhani, Russia’s President Putin, Turkey’s President Erdoğan have come together in Tehran to address developments in Syria.

Spokesperson of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova has stated that the negotiations between Russia and Turkey have been continuing so that the operation to be launched in Idlib could have minimum effect on the civilians in the region.

Amnesty International’s Middle East Director of Campaigns Samah Hadid has released a statement before the Syria summit to be held in Tehran on September 7. She has said, “The lives of millions of people in Idlib are now in the hands of Russia, Turkey and Iran.”

Concerning the potential Idlib operation, FM Çavuşoğlu has said, “Purpose of these attacks is to seize Idlib”. German FM Maas stated that they were “concerned of the developments at the border”.

Idlib has become a place of critical importance in terms of “proxy wars” and Syrian Leader Assad declaring his legitimacy again.

Responding to a question about potential operration into Idlib, Erdoğan has said, "We have 12 observation points in there. The US and Russia pass the buck to each other but god forbid, if they launch missiles, a slaughter takes place here".

Planning to launch an operation into Idlib, the Syrian government has claimed that the US and its allies provide arms to ISIS and Al Nusra front via Ukraine and the Balkan states.

Russia launched its first airstrike on Idlib after 22 days today. Jets hit 20 points. Kremlin claimed that “the militants in the points hit by airstrike threaten Russian bases”.

US President Donald Trump has sent a message to Iran and Russia about a possible operation to be launched in Idlib. Trump has said, “Russians and Iranians would be making a grave humanitarian mistake to take part in this potential human tragedy.”
