Forest fire

Forest fires have broken out in Marmara Island and Alaçam Mountains in Balıkesir and in Burgazada in İstanbul. The fire extinguishing efforts of fire brigade teams are continuing.

HDP Deputy Co-Chair Çepni has organized a press conference in parliament about the forest fires that broke out in Dersim. Çepni has said that constitutional crime was committed with respect to the forest fires.

HDP MPs who wanted to reconnoiter forest fires in Dersim have been’t permitted to enter the fire areas. HDP’s Bilgen has said, “They are trying to cover their crimes”.

The Governorship of Tunceli has made a statement about the fire that broke out in Dersim and lasted during the last week. While the governorship has stated, “News about the fire do not reflect the truth,” Ferhat Tunç has shared a video of the fire captured on August 15.

President of Dersim Bar Association Yıldırım has filed a criminal complaint against those who are responsible for the forest fires which broke out during military operations and clashes.

Dersim Preservation of Cultural and Natural Heritage Initiative has highlighted that especially since the beginning of OHAL, Dersim has been continuously hit by forest fires and has filed a criminal complaint to press charges against those responsible.
