Turkey Convicted of Extrajudicial Killing By Military and Police
The European Court of Human Rights has passed judgement on three cases of extrajudicial killing in two different police-military operations. Turkey has been sentenced to pay compensation for having violated “the right to life”.

Turkey Convicted for Gas Canister Death
ECHR gave a verdict on the case of the gas-canister-caused killing of Tarık Ataykaya. The court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, and expressed that “the canister had been aimed at Ataykaya.”

ECHR Convicts Turkey On Rights Abuse In Military
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) sentenced Turkey to pay a fine in the amount of 17,500 euros on the charge of violating the rights of freedom and security in the case of four specialists sergeants who were placed under chamber arrest.

Interference with Kurdish Letters Unlawful
The European Court of Human Rights convicted Turkey of a violation of the "right to respect for private life" upon an application lodged by 10 prisoners. They had applied because letters in Kurdish written to their families had not been dispatched by the prison administrations.

European Court Convicts Torture To A Peace Mother
Small tradesperson Yunus Atalay, Peace Mother Hadiye Dur and worker Mahfuz Türkan had gone to the European Court of Human Rights, when their efforts to seek justice in Turkey had not brought any results. The Court sentenced Turkey on the grounds of bad treatment for the three applications.
