Cyprus Controversy in Parliament
BDP Deputy Ertuğrul Kürkçü and CHP MP Şafak Pavey launched a discussion in Parliament upon their statements on the European Union and Cyprus. Kürkçü said that the Kurdish question and Cyprus were the fundamental problems of the country that needed to be discussed to find a solution.

Derviş Eroğlu is the new president of Northern Cyprus with a majority vote of more than 50 percent. His opponent Ali Talat got 42.8 percent of the votes. In Southern Cyprus, the result was assessed as a "negative development".
