Thousands Celebrate Newroz in Diyarbakır
Hundreds of thousand people gathered in Diyarbakır this morning to celebrate the arrival of spring equinox, a major celebration among Turkey's Kurds also known as Newroz. PKK leader Öcalan's message to Kurdish people was read both in Kurdish and Turkish.

PKK Ceasefire to be Terminated on 31 October?
The lawyers of imprisoned PKK leader Öcalan and Kurdish politician Tuğluk will not be able to see Öcalan before the announced end of the ceasefire on 31 October due to heavy weather conditions and a public holiday. They will apply for a meeting on 1 November.

In the end of September, Karayılan from the Democratic Confederation of Kurdistan had announced to extend the ceasefire for another month. Imprisoned PKK leader Öcalan now criticized the "elimination policies" of the government and said he might take a different decision on 31 October.

The PKK announced its decision for a period of "passive defence" from 13 August till 20 September. The constancy of the process is contingent on four conditions. The decision was influenced by the beginning of the moths of Ramadan amongst other factors.

Öcalan's Isolation on The Imrali Island Ends
After rights organizations had criticized the conditions of Öcalan's isolated imprisonment, 5 convicts have been transferred to İmralı Island where the PKK leader is imprisoned since 1999. He will be allowed to see them 10 hours a week.
