Three Dead, Four Missing After Water Pipe Explosion at Hydroelectric Power Plant

Four people went missing after the floods, a truck the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality sent the area also fell into a river.

A municipality worker had his arm broken in the truck and called his colleagues for help, the local news portal "61 Saat" reported.

The power plant is located in Yeşilyurt neighborhood in Araklı district.

The Araklı District Governor released a statement, warning people to not go to the neighborhoods of Çamlıktepe and Yüceyurt.

The Trabzon Governor also made a statement, saying, "According to the initial information from the scene of the incident, four houses and one workplace have been demolished in Çamlıktepe neighborhood and the body of one citizen has been reached. Our efforts to reach our missing citizens are continuing."

Bekir Pakdemirli, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, making a statement later in the day, said that three people died and seven were wounded as a result of the floods. 76 people were evacuated, he added. (PT/VK)
