Six months of detention in repatriation center to follow 30 years in prison, if order not revoked

Author Abdulmenaf Osman, who was released from the Manisa Akhisar Type-C Closed Prison on Sunday, September 3, after 30 years and 6 months of imprisonment, has now been placed under "administrative detention" for a period of 6 months.

Due to his birth in the city of Hesekê in the region controlled by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (Rojava), after his release, Osman was taken to the Akhisar Gendarmerie Station to be transferred to the Manisa Repatriation Center (GGM). On the evening of September 4, he was taken to Edirne.

Osman's lawyer, Halil Coşkun, speaking to bianet, revealed that the Edirne Immigration Authority had issued a "administrative detention" order for his client for a period of 6 months.

Attorney Coşkun stated that they would initiate legal actions against this decision, and if the current order is not revoked, Osman will remain at the Edirne GGM for 6 months.

Who is Abdulmenaf Osman?

Abdulmenaf Osman, a Rojavan writer, was born in Hesekê in 1965. He completed his primary, middle, and high school education in this city and went to the Syrian capital, Damascus, to study at the university. Osman completed his education at Damascus University's Geology Department.

Osman was detained in Batman on March 3, 1993, and sentenced to life imprisonment by the State Security Court (DGM) on charges of "attempting to separate a part of the territories under the sovereignty of the state."

Osman has nine books, two of which were published in Turkey. His play "Destê Şeş Tilî (Six-Fingered Hand)" was staged at the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters.
